🇸🇪🤝🇹🇭 Sweden and Thailand Elevate Relations to a Strategic Partnership (English below)

ในวันที่ 26 สิงหาคม 2568 ประเทศไทยและสวีเดนได้ยกระดับความสัมพันธ์ทวิภาคีสู่ความเป็นหุ้นส่วนทางยุทธศาสตร์อย่างเป็นทางการ ซึ่งถือเป็นหมุดหมายทางประวัติศาสตร์ของมิตรภาพอันยาวนานระหว่างสองประเทศ

การประกาศดังกล่าวมีขึ้นระหว่างการเยือนสวีเดนอย่างเป็นทางการครั้งแรกของนายมาริษ เสงี่ยมพงษ์ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศของไทย การเยือนครั้งนี้สะท้อนถึงมิตรภาพอันแน่นแฟ้นและความมุ่งมั่นร่วมกันในการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือในทุกมิติที่เป็นประโยชน์ร่วมกันของทั้งสองฝ่าย ทั้งในระดับทวิภาคีและระดับภูมิภาค

ระหว่างการเยือนครั้งนี้ นายมาริษ ได้เข้าพบหารือทวิภาคีกับ นาง Maria Malmer Stenergard รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสวีเดน โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายได้แลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองต่อพัฒนาการด้านความมั่นคงระดับโลกและระดับภูมิภาค รวมถึงสงครามรุกรานของรัสเซียต่อยูเครนและผลกระทบต่อระบบระหว่างประเทศที่อิงตามกฎกติกา ตลอดจนได้หารือแนวทางการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือในสาขาสำคัญต่าง ๆ ที่มีผลประโยชน์ร่วมกัน เช่น อุตสาหกรรมป้องกันประเทศ นวัตกรรม การค้า และความสัมพันธ์ทางเศรษฐกิจ

การลงนามในข้อตกลงหุ้นส่วนทางยุทธศาสตร์นี้ตอกย้ำถึงความลึกซึ้งและความแข็งแกร่งของความสัมพันธ์อันยาวนานระหว่างประเทศไทยและสวีเดน ซึ่งได้พัฒนาอย่างต่อเนื่องนับตั้งแต่การลงนามสนธิสัญญามิตรภาพ การพาณิชย์ และการเดินเรือระหว่างกันฉบับแรกเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2411

ในปัจจุบัน มีบริษัทสวีเดนกว่า 100 แห่งดำเนินกิจการอยู่ในประเทศไทย มีชาวสวีเดนกว่า 220,000 คนเดินทางมาเยือนประเทศไทยในแต่ละปี และมีชาวไทยราว 70,000 คนพำนักอยู่ในสวีเดน ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประชาชนที่ยั่งยืนของทั้งสองประเทศยิ่งตอกย้ำรากฐานที่แข็งแกร่งของความสัมพันธ์ทวิภาคี

การยกระดับความสัมพันธ์สู่หุ้นส่วนทางยุทธศาสตร์ในครั้งนี้ ถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญและตอกย้ำถึงความมุ่งมั่นร่วมกันของทั้งสองประเทศในการขับเคลื่อนความร่วมมือในทุกภาคส่วนให้ก้าวหน้าต่อไปในอนาคต

On 26 August 2025, Thailand and Sweden officially elevated their bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership, marking a historic milestone in the longstanding friendship between the two nations.

The announcement was made during the first official visit to Sweden by H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. This visit reflects the enduring friendship and shared commitment to deepening cooperation across all areas of mutual interest at both bilateral and regional levels.

During the visit, H.E. Mr. Sangiampongsa, held bilateral consultations with Her Excellency Ms. Maria Malmer Stenergard, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden. The two Ministers exchanged views on global and regional security developments, including Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and its consequences for the international rules-based system and discussed avenues for strengthening cooperation in key areas of mutual interest, including defence industry, innovation, trade and economic relations.

The signing of the Strategic Partnership underscores the depth and resilience of the longstanding relationship between Thailand and Sweden, which has continued to flourish since the signing of the first Treaty of Friendship, Commerce, and Navigation in 1868.

At present, more than 100 Swedish companies are operating in Thailand. Over 220,000 Swedish nationals visit Thailand annually, and approximately 70,000 Thai citizens reside in Sweden. These enduring people-to-people ties further reinforce the strong foundation of bilateral relations.

The elevation of relations to a Strategic Partnership marks a significant milestone and reaffirms the shared commitment of both countries to advancing cooperation across all sectors in the years to come.
